Subject: [BCGgolf] tee off order, new awards
Golfers,
I will announce the tee off order tomorrow morning. The order of teams on the website (A, B, C,...) is NOT the order we will use tomorrow.
I have changed the listserv settings so I can approve messages (which are automatically sent from the message board) before they are sent to the list. I apologize for that last posting.
Courtesy of Jim G., we have some new awards. Currently there are no trophies for these, but winners will be forever immortalized on the website.
Sandbagger Award - goes to the team with the largest disparity between self-reported and actual performance. We'll have to think about the appropriate metric (actual score vs. simple average of four self-reported?)
Sniper Award - goes to the individual with the most egregious errant shot.
If you have any suggestions or comments, pls post them to the listserv.
Thanks,
Erik

Golfers,
The final rules have been set. The two drive minimum per player has been implemented. Other details are on the website.
Please reply to this email (or go to the message board) and indicate which two or three teams you think are best as well as which one you think is worst. I will compile and post the results.
I'll see you all Saturday at 8:30am.
Thanks,
Erik

Subject: [BCGgolf] Official Teams Posted
Golfers,
The official teams have been posted at www.mikysa.com/bcggolf2. The team committee worked hard to establish fair teams, so I trust no one will complain. :)
The forecast high for Saturday is 74 degrees. It should be a great day for golf.
Please arrive at Stone Mountain at 8:30 so you can warm up with your complimentary bucket of driving range balls. The first foursome will tee off at 9am, and there should be 28 spectators heckling them as they start the day.
Directions to the course are on the website. Don't forget that the park has a $7 entry fee per car.
Best,
Erik

Subject: [BCGgolf] A few questions - pls reply ASAP
Golfers,
The Invitational is less than one week away. Everything is on-track, but I have a few administrative notes.
I will be setting the tee-off order soon, so please let me know ASAP if you need your team to be one of the first to tee off. Let me know what your commitment is, or how important it is that you get out early, so I can prioritize.
We have currently have 8 teams of 4, for a total of 32 participants. However, there are 3 others who would really like to play. Please let me know TODAY if you plan to back-out but have not yet told me. If we will have attrition, I will fill the empty spots with the additional three. Otherwise, I will try to get another person so we can field a ninth team.
A couple of tips from Mark Baumgartner: - There is a $7 entry fee per car to get into the park (some might want to carpool) - People should go to the second park entrance (not Stone Mtn. Village exit, the next one) - Bring extra balls. I was just there this weekend-- it's a tough course with a lot of water and trees!
The rules will be set by Wednesday night. If you have any opinions on the proposals thus far, please post them to the bulletin board so the rules committee can review them.

Erik

Subject: [BCGgolf] Team rosters have been posted (and we need one more
participant)
Golfers,
The preliminary team rosters for the Nov. 17 tournament have been posted on the website for your review. Thus far we have eight teams and 31 participants!
Comments/suggestions about the teams and the rules must be submitted via the website's bulletin board by noon on Friday Nov. 9 to be considered. John A., Joe K., and Jason G. will make final decisions.
We need to find another participant because one just dropped out. Please pressure those who are not playing to participate. Hopefully one of the 'moderately interested' people will opt in.
I will post more details about the event early next week.
Thanks,
Erik

Subject: payment deadline and other info
The Nov '01 BCG Golf Invitational is just three weeks away. As of 10/27 we have 31 participants.
The payment deadline is Noon on Friday Nov 2. If you have not yet paid, please put a check for $65 in my box or on my desk. A list of participants and their payment status is posted on the website.
The expected scores of most participants are also posted on the website. Once everyone replies, our team-forming committee, consisting of Akin, Guggenheim and Keough, will begin to establish the groups. I will post the proposed teams well before the event so that everyone has the opportunity to provide input.
Unless I hear otherwise, I will expect that those who replied 'very interested' intend to play, and that those who replied 'moderately interested' are not going to play. Please let me know ASAP if your status changes.
All of the details of the event are posted at www.mikysa.com/bcggolf2
Thanks,
Erik

Subject: update and request for payments, skill assessment
Golfers,
30 people have expressed very strong interest in the golf tournament, and 8 have expressed moderate interest. Turnout should be good, and I think this tournament will be even more fun than the first one.
I need to start collecting payments this week. Please get a check for $65 to me soon. Make it payable to me. You still can back out after paying, but getting checks now will make coordinating the tournament much easier for me.
I have not completely decided on the dates of deadlines (last day to withdraw and get a refund, etc.), but I will let you know when I do decide, and I'll let you know what they are well in advance of the deadlines. I think as a group we'll be able to withdraw and get a refund as long as we notify the course of our cancellation a few days in advance (as we would do if a snow storm was imminent), but we will need to secure the roster of individual participants well before then so we can create teams with equal talent. Therefore, please make an effort to let me know asap if you are not going to be able to participate.
BTW, if you have not already done so, please email me an assessment of your skill level. Indicate what you would expect to shoot on the Lakemont course, or, if you don't know, let me know how much golf you have played. I have posted the list of participants and some of this info on the website. Once we have everyone's information, we will begin making teams.
Pls let me know if you have any suggestions for how we can make this an even better event.
Thanks,

First Email:
BCGers,
The second BCG Golf Invitational will be held on Saturday, November 17 at Stone Mountain Golf Course. You are invited to participate.
16 players of all skill levels participated in the July Invitational, and everyone who participated in the first outing had a great time. The tournament format is scramble so even beginners can contribute and have a good time. The Invitational is open to BCGers, ex-BCGers, SO's, and clients who are close friends.
I estimate that total cost per person will be around $65. This will include green and cart fees, range balls, trophies for winners, a closest to the pin and longest drive contest, etc.
For more information about the tournament, check out www.mikysa.com/bcggolf2. The message board has been set up so postings will be sent to the group list once it is established. To see info about July's outing, see www.mikysa.com/bcggolf1.
Please use the voting buttons at the top of this window to indicate how interested you are in participating. I will contact those who express interest with more details as the event approaches.
Best,
Erik
