Team,
Last night started out looking like a nightmare but ended up being a lot of fun despite a loss. Although it looked like we were going to have to forfeit as we had only 6 players out, we picked up 3 folks from a team that played before us and fielded a team just one person shy of full (so we had only three in the outfield instead of four).
Momentum in the game shifted back and forth several times and we had some exciting moments, including 3 home runs (two over the fence, one inside the park). Game highlights included Joanna's three towering hits into the outfield, Sacha's skill at battling the wind to lob in strikes, Terry snaring in a tough line drive in the outfield, JPs strong in-fielding and Tim's second homerun, an incredible grand slam over the deepest section of the Green Monster. We ended up losing in the last inning, when we couldn't hold our opponents under 5 runs. Anyhow, we had a good time and I think we are beginning to feel more comfortable out on the field. With a full squad and our homegrown talent, we have a good future.
Next Monday we have a double-header (7:15pm and 8:15pm), since we had to postpone two games. Please mark your calendars and I'll send an email out on Thursday to check availability.
In other news, we received 14 t-shirts from the league. I am going to try to get more but I'm not sure if I'll be able to. The loyalists who played last night all got one since they were there when they were delivered. If we can't get more than 14, I think the folks who come to the most games should get them, and perhaps those who don't get one can get $10 of dues back. Speaking of, if you have not yet given me a $40 check, please send it to 1050 Vance Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30306.
Thanks and see you next week.
