Highlanders vs. The Independents

L (22-1)

Team,

monday's game was a rough one as we lost 22-1 in a 40 minute game, sustaining two injuries. our opponents were very strong at bat and in the field; hopefully they are the best team we'll face this season.

on a positive note, we had three new folks out all of whom played very well:

laurie - displayed solid fielding abilities at second base. look for double plays from this seasoned veteran late in the season. earned a purple heart reeling in a line drive bare handed, unfortunately breaking a finger in the process.

griffin - quiet yet determined, griffin will definitely prove to be an asset in the field. did a great job heckling our opponents.

tim - first day out showed that he will be a valuable team leader. demonstrated masterful play at first and gave good direction to others in the field. also designed a great logo for our team, which is attached.

despite these individual contributions, we never really hit our stride as a team. the game would have been completely depressing had it not been for my fielding of a fly to deep left-center off of my forehead, which must have been pretty funny to those who saw/heard it. the dizziness is all but gone, but the scabs from the seam-stitches will probably be around for a few days. :)

next week we play a team that is 0-3 thus far, so we can take out our aggression on them.

see you all next week!

Erik
